Namaste: A Candle Inspired by My Yoga Journey

There are certain moments in life when you feel deeply rooted yet fully open—connected to yourself, your breath, and something greater. That’s how I’ve always felt during my yoga practice.

Over the years, yoga has been a returning sanctuary in my life. A space to breathe, to move, to be. And last year, I finally took a leap I’d dreamed about for a long time: I completed yoga teacher training (YTT). That season of learning and transformation inspired me to create a candle that would carry the spirit of those moments—the Namaste candle.

The Meaning Behind "Namaste"

“Namaste” is more than a greeting. It's a recognition:

“The divine light in me honors the divine light in you.”It’s the heart of yoga—connection, unity, and reverence. I wanted this candle to hold that energy, that intention. When you light it, I hope it reminds you to breathe deeply, come back to yourself, and find peace in the present moment.

Scent Profile: Healing Through Nature

The Namaste candle is lovingly made with:

  • Palo Santo~ Known as “holy wood,” Palo Santo has long been used in cleansing rituals. It helps clear stagnant energy, promotes clarity, and brings in grounded, peaceful energy.

  • Sandalwood~ Rich and earthy, sandalwood encourages inner calm and spiritual connection. It’s often used in meditation to support mindfulness and emotional balance.

  • Myrrh~ An ancient resin with powerful grounding properties. Myrrh has been used in spiritual practices for centuries—it supports healing, intuition, and deeper introspection.

Together, these oils create a scent that’s woodsy, warm, and sacred. It feels like a quiet exhale, a candlelight yoga practice, or an early morning meditation.

The Power of Yoga in Everyday Life

Yoga is not just movement—it’s breath, stillness, discipline, surrender, and self-discovery. Some days, it looks like a full practice on the mat. Other days, it’s simply closing your eyes, placing a hand over your heart, and taking one mindful breath.

Here are a few benefits of a regular yoga practice:

  • Lowers stress and anxiety

  • Improves flexibility and strength

  • Enhances focus and clarity

  • Supports emotional regulation

  • Connects you with your body and spirit

  • Promotes better sleep and digestion

  • Encourages mindful living and presence

A Moment for You: A Short Meditation

If you're reading this, take a moment for yourself. You deserve it.

  1. Close your eyes.

  2. Take a deep breath in… and exhale slowly.

  3. With each breath, allow your shoulders to soften, your jaw to relax.

  4. Place a hand on your heart and whisper silently:“I am grounded. I am calm. I am connected.”

  5. Sit in stillness for a few more breaths. Let peace settle in.

Wisdom from the Mat

Here are a few of my favorite quotes that have supported me on and off the mat:

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” – The Bhagavad Gita
“You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside.” – Wayne Dyer
“Inhale the future, exhale the past.”
“Your soul honors your body. Your body honors your soul. The light within you is sacred.”

Whether you’re lighting Namaste after a yoga session or simply when you need a moment of calm in your day, I hope it brings you the same sense of healing and grace that yoga has always brought to me.

With breath, love, and intention,

Krista
