The Story Behind the Pura Vida Candle

At the end of 2019, I was running on empty.

I was exhausted, burnt out, and questioning everything. Navigating life as a single mother while running a business and working multiple jobs had taken its toll. Somewhere in the busyness and responsibility, I had lost my spark.

One night over dinner, one of my closest friends encouraged me to do something radical — something just for me.

Book the yoga retreat. Take the leap.

A few weeks later, I found myself in Costa Rica, standing on a mountaintop overlooking San José. Surrounded by fresh air, new friendships, and a sense of hope I didn’t even realize I was craving.

We rang in the new year under the stars, fireworks lighting up the city below us, hearts full of dreams for what the next chapter might bring. None of us knew what 2020 had in store — but somehow, that week grounded me in a way that carried me through what came next.

Pura Vida is more than a phrase. It’s a way of life.

It’s connection. Adventure. Lush greenery and ocean breezes.

It’s choosing presence, simplicity, and joy — even when life feels uncertain.

When I returned home, this candle poured itself out of that experience. Pura Vida was created as a reminder of that season — a reminder to breathe, to soften, and to come back to what truly matters.

This candle is for anyone who has felt stretched thin, burnt out, or in need of a reset. It’s a gentle invitation to slow down and remember that life, at its core, can still be pure and beautiful.
