🌿 Why I’m Gently Transitioning from Farmers Markets to Online

Updated: 4 days ago

For over 13 years, farmers markets were my classroom. They were where I learned how to tell my story. I watched strangers close their eyes and breathe in Oakmoss & Amber for the first time. I wrapped mason jar candles in brown paper bags and handed them over with a quiet thank you.

They were loud.

They were hot.

They were exhausting.

And they were magical. ✨

The Heart of Connection

There is something deeply human about face-to-face connection. Looking someone in the eye. Hearing their story. Letting them smell a candle before they choose it. That part will always have my heart.

But over the years, something inside me has been shifting. Not in a dramatic way. Not in a “burn it all down” way. Just gently.

I Don’t Want to Build a Business That Requires Me to Be Everywhere

Markets require early mornings. Heavy lifting. Unpredictable weather. Booth fees that add up. Energy that sometimes leaves me depleted for days. And while I’m so grateful for what they built for me, I started asking myself a quiet question:

What if my business could support my life instead of consume it?

What if my candles could sell while I’m home cooking dinner? While I’m in the garden? While I’m sitting with my daughter at the kitchen table? While I’m resting? Because I don’t just want a successful business. I want a peaceful home. 🌼

Growth Doesn’t Always Look Like More

For a long time, I thought growth meant more markets, more events, more hustle, and more showing up. But now, growth feels different. It feels like intentional decisions. Focused energy. Creating systems that allow sustainability. Building something that lasts longer than a season.

Moving online isn’t about abandoning markets. It’s about balance. It’s about building an online candle shop that carries the same heart but gives me room to breathe.

The Candles Aren’t Changing

They are still small batch, hand poured, soy wax, cotton wicks, and botanical oils. Made slowly and intentionally. What’s changing is how they reach you. Instead of only meeting under a white tent in Florida heat, we get to meet here—in your living room, in your quiet moments, in your evening rituals. That feels sacred to me. 🌙

This Season Feels Like Trust

Trusting that the community I’ve built will follow. Trusting that growth can be gentle. Trusting that rest is not failure. Trusting that my business can evolve as I do.

For more than 13 years, you’ve supported Hippie’s Homemade Candles.

A woman with floral crown holds a candle, surrounded by books, crystals, and flowers. A child with a teddy bear sits nearby. Warm, dreamy night setting.

And now, I’m building it in a way that supports my family, my health, and my home. Still handmade. Still heart-led. Just a little softer. And maybe… a little wiser. 🌿

If you’ve ever closed your eyes at a farmers market booth and taken a deep breath, you can still do that here. Take your time. Read the stories. Explore the scents. Your home deserves to feel intentional—even in the smallest moments.
