Why is the first burn so important????
When you burn soy candles, they have a memory! This means that if the wax was only melted halfway to the jar when you blew it out, this is where it will melt to every time you re-light it. Your candle will burn straight down the center, called "tunneling", and you are left with wax stuck to the sides.
Make sure you have enough time to let the wax pool all the way to the edge of the jar the first time you light it. This can take up to 3 hours depending on what size the jar is and what fragrance is in it. Generally we say to allow 1 hour for every inch in diameter of the jar. So if the jar is about 2 & 1/2" wide, it will take around 2 & 1/2 hours to achieve a full melt pool!
After the first burn, it will take less time to achieve that same melt pool, but always allow it to reach the jar before blowing it out! If you only have a few minutes to be home, wait until later when you can truly enjoy the fragrance you get from a full melt pool!
Hope this helps!!!!
